Welcome to Elsewhere at SAM.

By entering, guests agree to the following Terms and Conditions, which help us maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Behavioural Expectations

Guests are expected to behave in a respectful and considerate manner toward staff and other patrons.

Disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.

Supervision of Children & Under 18s

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, children must be supervised by a responsible parent or guardian at all times.

As a licensed venue, we welcome guests under 18 when accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

To ensure clarity:

  • Guests under 18 must be supervised at all times

  • Unaccompanied minors are only permitted entry for the purpose of purchasing and consuming a meal

  • Service to unaccompanied minors is limited to food and non-alcoholic beverages only

  • Takeaway service is not available to unaccompanied minors

  • We may request ID from anyone who appears under 25

If a minor arrives unaccompanied, our team may politely refuse entry or provide information for a parent or guardian explaining our policy.

This is a condition of our on-premises license which must be upheld.

Licensed Venue & Responsible Service of Alcohol

Elsewhere at SAM is a licensed venue committed to the responsible service of alcohol.

We comply with all relevant licensing requirements, including:

  • Age verification for patrons who appear under 25

  • Refusal of service to anyone who is intoxicated

  • Staff training in Responsible Service of Alcohol practices

Alcohol service is always subject to staff discretion and legal requirements.

No Food or Drink in the Gallery

To protect the artworks and maintain a clean, respectful environment, food and drinks are not permitted inside the Shepparton Art Museum gallery spaces.

Outside Food and Drinks

To support our venue and maintain quality control, outside food and beverages are not permitted on the premises.

Smoking & Vaping

Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere at Elsewhere at SAM, including indoor dining, outdoor dining, and Level 4 function areas.

Dogs in Outdoor Dining Area

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our designated outdoor dining area only.

Dogs must remain on a leash and under control at all times. Dogs are not permitted indoors, with the exception of accredited assistance dogs.

We may ask guests to leave if a dog becomes disruptive or cannot be appropriately controlled (e.g., excessive barking or cannot be leashed).

Guide Dogs, Seeing Eye Dogs & Assistance Animals

We welcome accredited assistance animals inside the café, including Guide Dogs, Seeing Eye Dogs and Assistance Animals..

Our team may request appropriate identification confirming accreditation, in line with requirements under the Food Act 1984 which allow only accredited assistance animals inside food service areas..

Refusal of Entry

Management reserves the right to refuse entry or service to any individual for reasons including, but not limited to, failure to comply with these conditions, disruptive behaviour, intoxication, or any conduct deemed inappropriate.
